The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 电影的影像质感和色调太美了，音乐超级棒！前三十分钟的精彩，后面情节量不够了，都在话痨，拖沓和陈词滥调有点儿多。30分钟的好电影。
想起了《雷德尔上校》，在严密监控的体制内跨越雷池半步，各种fetish。
他说，人不能什么都惧怕，尤其是自由；她说，你偶尔该替我想想，你调包档案会害我丢了工作。可能就是一句话、一个吻，爱情自己改了主意。对冒险家性格来说，勇气，就是致命的吸引力。结局也挺暗黑的，恐同 + 深柜 + 权力 = 灾难。
电视电影水准的neo noir犯罪片，放在80年代波兰反同高峰的背景下让人唏嘘。
绝望的气氛贯穿始终，一切情爱看上去都如此虚假……目前个人的年度最佳LGBT。

有点无聊 想起了王小波的《似水柔情》 但影片远没有小说有意思
整体三星吧，最后结局完全是吊人胃口嘛，警官怎么样了也不知道。爱情吧没拍的那么动人，事件吧也没拍出多少曲折看点，就题材而言实在有些浪费了。
希望历史不要重演，希望历史赶快翻篇……

那种感觉就像有一天gay朋友给我说 如果他不是gay 他走在路上脚步都会轻快
不了解这个国家的历史和现状的话，很难get到它所隐喻和批判的他们本国的内容，但世界上很多事是共通的，最后警笛响起时，满心悲哀。看介绍说，当下的波兰极右上台，排挤lgbt的情况越来越严重，但即便如此，他们还是拍出了这样的电影，矛盾而魔幻。整部片子拍的极美，光影的营造，中欧冬季冰冷的肃穆，略带点儿苏味儿的城市建筑风格，极美。故事整体完成度其实不算高，但拍的太美了！五星好评！

还好吧，故事背景我很喜欢，主角的颜我也比较喜欢。但是故事本身没有拍得很touching，而且各种追踪枪战戏拍得有点儿戏。三星半吧

作为悬疑剧只能说是小儿科，作为平权历史剧还是有一些可圈可点的地方，虽然也只能说中规中矩。说实话我并不想看到一个双性恋或者同性恋警察发现自我、英雄救美，倒更希望看到一个直男警察凭着正义和勇气做本就正确的事。 说实话每次去同志公益中心填那些个人信息和问卷，我都担心这是不是一份粉红档案。假如有一天需要一个活靶子，不会是新疆人，因为政治正确，不会是女人，因为人多，也没有黑人犹太人，那最好的备选项当然还是性少数。那个时候我们又能对人民警察抱有什么期待呢？
